Bad Cop Story #1: Former Dallas officer headed to prison for Crime Stoppers scam
A former Dallas police official who headed Dallas Crime Stoppers was sentenced today to almost four years in federal prison for taking money from the program and for tax evasion.
Theadora Ross, 52, a former senior corporal in the Dallas Police Department, must surrender to prison officials on Jan. 14.
Ross of Rowlett who pleaded guilty in August to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and tax evasion was sentenced to 46 months in prison and ordered to pay $274,034 in restitution to the North Texas Crime Commission.
Ross resigned from the police department, but she still collects a city pension, the Dallas Morning News reported.
