WASHINGTON A North Texas candidate for Congress is banding together with three other Republicans from around the country to form a Conservative Squad.
Former Irving mayor Beth Van Duyne, who is running for the seat vacated by retiring Rep. Kenny Marchant, R-Coppell, appeared Thursday on Fox & Friends with three other congressional candidates Jessica Taylor of Alabama, Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota and Nancy Mace of South Carolina.
The group declared themselves the Republican answer to the Democratic women in Congress known as the squad Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Ohio.
We really do have a Congress that is run by extremists, and its dangerous for America because theyre not doing anything, Van Duyne said during the segment.

My take on the race: As a former resident of Irving, I despise Beth Van Duyne for Islamophobic rhetoric in a city that has an increasingly diverse racial composition that is about 25% Muslim. The Democrat with the most name recognition is Kim Olson, who ran for state agricultural commissioner in 2018 and is a retired Air Force colonel. I have been receiving emails from Kim Olson and Candace Valenzuela who is backed by Justice Democrats. I have not received any emails from Jan McDowell who was narrowly defeated by the incumbent Rep. Ken Marchant in 2018.
If the race for the 24th Congressional District narrows down to Van Duyne versus Valenzuela, I believe that Van Duyne will have the advantage because there are still plenty of white racists who will be activated to support Van Duyne. For that reason, I'm for Kim Olson.
