House Speaker Nancy Pelosi discusses border security, immigration with TAMIU students in Laredo

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi emphasized to Texas A&M International University students on Friday the lack of danger on the border and issues such as investing more in higher education.

Laredo's House Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) asked Pelosi questions especially about border security Friday morning during a historic visit at TAMIU, which has never hosted a U.S. House speaker before.

The audience, which included TAMIU, Laredo College and high school students and staff, applauded and cheered at taking in immigrants rather than heavily policing the border.

Pelosi said Trump using his emergency powers to shut down the government over border wall funding was an overreach, and so she did not let him at the time deliver a State of the Union address.

Thanks to Speaker Pelosi for visiting Laredo and to Rep. Cuellar who will make a formidable candidate if Justice Democrats can find someone to primary him.
