Man killed after crashing into NASCC North Gate

Security personnel at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi fired shots at a person who charged them after crashing into a barrier with a car, NAS-CC officials confirm.

The man, who has not been identified, entered NASCC through the South Gate and was being chased by NASCC security forces, a press release said.

UPDATE: A spokesperson for Navy Region Southeast has confirmed that base security personnel killed the man who crashed into the NASCC North Gate this morning.

Navy spokesperson Bill Dougherty says the man exited his vehicle after it caught fire and charged at security force personnel, who then shot him. The man received medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.
