R.I.P. Judge Mary Lou Robinson

She became her county's first judge in a time when women weren't allowed to open bank accounts without permission from their husbands. In 1979, Jimmy Carter appointed her as Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. When a bunch of wealthy cattle ranchers sued Oprah Winfrey, Judge Robinson presided over the trial and a jury that found Ms. Winfrey not liable - a stunning verdict in the home of the world's largest livestock auction.
