Katy-area mosque shot at from roadway, deputies looking for suspects

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for help in obtaining information on the person responsible for shooting at a Katy-area mosque this week.

On Monday, Jan. 14 around 4:30 p.m., deputies received a call to respond to the Muslim American Society - Katy Center on 1800 block of Baker Road in west Harris County, according to a Harris County Sheriff’s Office news release.

A mosque employee told deputies a contractor’s truck that was parked in the lot and a section of the exterior wall of the mosque had been struck by gunfire from the roadway, the release said.

Upon investigation, deputies noticed a bullet hole in the windshield of the truck and the front of the mosque to have been hit by a bullet round.
