San Antonio PD officer suspended for using homophobic slur while breaking up crowd on SE Side

A San Antonio police officer was issued a 27-day suspension without pay last month for using a homophobic slur while breaking up a crowd in June at a Southeast Side parking lot.

Officer Jason D. Owen will begin his suspension on Jan. 19. His disciplinary period will end Feb. 14.

According to suspension documents obtained by mySA.com, Owen and one other officer responded to "a large number of people gathering in the parking lots" near Kennedy Hill and S.E. Military Drive at about 10:30 p.m. on June 17.

"Upon his arrival, Officer Owen approached several subjects and called one unidentified subject a 'f----t,' then told him to 'get the f--k out,'" the suspension report reads.
