Travis County auditor who uncovered tax office fraud resigns

Travis County Auditor Nicki Riley, whose review of the county’s tax office prompted an investigation that uncovered suspicion of fraudulent activity and led to the arrest of seven people this year, has resigned to pursue other professional interests.

Riley told the American-Statesman on Monday that she made the decision last week and informed her bosses, the county’s 19 district court judges, she will step down once they find her replacement. She has worked in the office for 16 years and has served as the county’s chief financial officer for the past six.

“I’m ready to move onto something different,” Riley said. “I’m just burned out of that position. I’m looking into other opportunities that I’m able to do.”

State District Judge Lora Livingston confirmed Riley’s departure in an email on Monday.

about another retiring or being fired for criminal. This is what the whole lot need to be brought down on. The two years of pretending they did not have to follow any law, with eyes wide open. They got drunk on the oblivious disregard to hide their criminal behavior. They did not take any steps to hide or guard. A drunken orgy of criminal and the blatant abuse of the judicial system because they have the judges.

They run around like spoiled kids from branch to branch. We are only getting them out of the last spoilage of the House And the Democrats are the adults following along cleaning them up, picking the tantrum thrown stuff up, dusting off, and securing, for Republicans next whirlwind of tantrums.

Anyway, with the House, this is how I think we Democrats move forward. The criminal. Committees and investigate. There is a lot there. I think we still have that. At all levels.

I am old. This is tiring. I remember a poster of an older woman holding a sign saying something about protesting the same shit. All over again.

But, it doesn't do any thing good for us to ignore it, either. It doesn't go away.
