SETX Democrats: Harvey response was unacceptable

Gathered outside the still-gutted home of a Port Arthur resident Thursday, a handful of Democratic candidates from the top of November's Jefferson County ballot said the way the state administration is handling Tropical Storm Harvey recovery is unacceptable.

Thursday's stop at Robert Chretien's uninhabitable home – still missing Sheetrock on half of the walls – was part of a 10-day tour through 40 cities with 47 get-out-the-vote events.

Only 15% had flood insurance "because we are not in a flood plain, it wasn't required." While they should have thought that through, this area is devastated. So many houses are gone or are still in ruins.

Trump gives himself an A+ for his hurricane relief, but I can tell you we went through Rita and Ike and rebuilt what was destroyed. This time, not so much!
