(Lieutenant Governor) controls the work of the Texas Senate and controls the budgeting process as a leader of the Legislative Budget Board.

Under the provisions of the Texas Constitution, the Lieutenant Governor is President of the Texas Senate.

If a Republican is returned to this position, Democrats will be effectively locked out from any ability to introduce legislation. The only bills that will be considered will be GOP priorities such as tax breaks for corporations, restricting women's' reproductive freedom, and worrying about what bathroom people can use.
