Abbott: Bigger bull's eye on me than any other guv
AUSTIN -- Incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, generally considered a safe bet for reelection next fall, claims in a new fundraising pitch to supporters that no other governor has a bigger bull's eye on his back than he.
Strange words, perhaps, for a popular governor who's considered far ahead in his campaign for reelection.
This is certain: The online ask marks the latest indication this week that the governors race is heating up, just seven months from the November general election -- and weeks ahead of the May 22 Democratic runoff.
In a late Tuesday solicitation message riffing off of a back-and-forth earlier in the day with presumptive Democratic challenger Lupe Valdez, who said she plans to "eviscerate' the controversial ban on sanctuary cities if elected, Abbott said he will stand firm to keep the ban in place.

What a pathetic attempt to garner sympathy. Your reign as governor faced only one significant hurdle during the past 3.5 years which was the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The state treasury is doing well and the price of oil is creeping back up so there is decent cash flow. Most of the perceived "problems" out there are of your own making. Dump Governor Greg!
