LGBTQ dance protest breaks out in front San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor's house
Draped in rainbow flags, massive afro wigs and sci-fi costumes, about 80 LGBTQ activists broke out into a dance protest in front of Mayor Ivy Taylors home on the East Side on Saturday evening.
Taylor is facing a runoff election against challenger Ron Nirenberg June 10, though the timing of the protest seemed aimed at the early voting process, which runs May 30-June 6.
The group, which gathered steam on social media for about a week prior to the event, blasted out classics like Diana Ross Im Coming Out and Right Said Freds Im Too Sexy over speakers for about 45 minutes at Dignowity Park, just across from Taylors house in the 700 block of Olive Street.
Taylor, who couldnt be reached for comment, didnt make an appearance at the protest. It was unclear whether she or her family were home during the event, though several police officers were on hand to make sure the protesters and any onlookers remained safe and civil.
