Former members of Univ. of North Texas basketball team accused of promoting prostitution

DENTON -- Two former members of the University of North Texas men’s basketball program are accused of promoting prostitution and a third faces a drug charge.

All three are students but weren’t members of the program when an investigation began in March, according to an email sent by the university to students and faculty Tuesday. The students are currently not allowed on campus.

Two of the students had been players on the basketball team, and the third was a student manager for the team, the email said. Their names were included in the email.

One arrest has been made, school spokeswoman Deborah Leliaert said.
