Constituents host 'Texas Town Hall without Ted Cruz'

Texas Republicans in Congress face a dilemma during this week-long recess: Do they hold public events for constituents, risking a face-off with passionate proponents of the Affordable Care Act, or do they stick to private events and risk angering constituents?

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz has no in-person town halls scheduled this week. One group opposed to Cruz' support for President Donald Trump is making its voice heard at noon Tuesday outside the senator's Houston office during a "Texas Town Hall without Ted Cruz."

"What do we want? Town hall" the 200 or so demonstrators chanted. "When do we want it? Now."

"This is about the people of America and them having the right to speak to their elected officials ... to address your needs and your concerns," said the Rev. James Caldwell of the Coalition of Community Organizations.
