Trinity University professor turning hate-filled message into opportunity for acceptance

SAN ANTONIO - A Trinity University professor threatened this week is taking his experience and sharing it not only with his students, but his community.

That threat, coming in a form of a tweet with a racial slur.

Although Dr. Simran Singh is not Muslim, but Sikh, he said he's been subjected to hateful messages online before.

The tweet directed at him on Monday showed a threat of violence, which is why he decided to take action.

"I took it seriously," said Singh. "There was racial slur in that. It's pretty ugly so, I thought it was important enough to share it with my communities and let them know that this ugliness is out there and we need to take it seriously."
