Neighbors tell story of vibrant Amarillo family of 10 overcome by lethal gas. Four siblings killed. Five in stable condition, including father. Mother flown to Lubbock in critical.AMARILLO -- Dan Dibala turned onto the street leading to his home on the 1300 block of Carolyn Monday after a night working on a broken down airplane and immediately knew something was wrong.
There were fire, police and emergency vehicles blocking his house and that of his neighbor and friend Peter Balderas across the street.
Heartache began as soon as he reached his home.
One of Balderas’ children had died as the result of accidental exposure to lethal gas created when a rodenticide made contact with water.
