Greg Abbott channels Trump, tells faithless elector Chris Suprun, 'YOU'RE FIRED!!!' on Twitter
A day after two members of the Electoral College in Texas went rogue, declining to cast their vote for President-elect Donald Trump for president, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott took to Twitter to attack one of the electors.
Abbott, in a tweet sent and deleted Tuesday morning, told Chris Suprun "YOU'RE FIRED!!!" In a second tweet, Abbott touted a bill going before the legislature in January that would penalize so-called "faithless electors" such as Suprun in the future.
"I look forward to signing it & ending this circus," Abbott tweeted.
House Bill 85 would impose penalties to future electoral rascals.
The measure, put forth by State Rep. John Raney, R-College Station, would impose a $5,000 fine on a faithless elector and bars that person from taking part in the Electoral College in the future.
