Fraud alleged in Rio Grande City election
RIO GRANDE CITY The candidates who lost in the Rio Grande City school board elections have filed a lawsuit alleging voter fraud.
The alleged voter fraud was in the form of mail-in ballots. They claim the elections department accepted over 200 forged or otherwise illegal mail-in ballots.
At least two members of the ballot board have come forward and made sworn statements that mail in ballots were (accepted) without proper signatures in violation of the Texas Election Code, the suit reads. Mail-in ballots which were in transit through the United States Postal Service were illegally intercepted by unauthorized political operatives of the contessees and delivered to the ballot board in violation of the Texas Election Code.
The two ballot board members were City Attorney Jacqueline Salinas and local Attorney Flor Flores, according to Basilio Bacho Villarreal, one of the candidates who ran on the U.S.S. Restore political team.
