Baylor associate athletic director arrested for alleged assault of a journalist
Baylor associate athletic director Heath Nielsen was arrested and charged earlier this month for misdemeanor assault with bodily injury after he allegedly grabbed a reporter around the neck after Baylor's loss to TCU, according to a report from KWTX.
Nielsen is free on bond, KWTX reported. Baylor declined comment to the site but KWTX noted that Nielson has been "conspicuously absent for the past several weeks."
The reporter, James McBride of Texas Blaze News, had asked a Baylor player after the loss to TCU if he could take a selfie with him. The player agreed and as McBride was taking the photo, "Nielsen walked up to McBride on the right, grabbed McBride by the throat with his right hand, squeezed and pushed him away from the football player," according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by KWTX.
Pictures of the wounds, which included what appear to be scratch marks on his throat, were taken and a spokesperson for Blaze News told KWTX that stadium cameras caught the incident on video.
