A surprise endorsement from a county north of Austin that typically votes Republican. The editors were chastised by a few people in letters about this endorsement.
The folks we know around the county have strong feelings about the race. A few others have not yet made up their minds, plan to vote for a third-party candidate, or intend to sit out the election.
If you fall into one of the last three categories, the Sun recommends Hillary Clintonnot because she is a perfect candidate, she isnt but because we believe she will do far better than her opponent at keeping us safe in a dangerous and complicated world, growing our economy (giving special attention to the economic well-being of the middle class), and at helping those who most need it.
She has a long public record of improving healthcare and education for children, from her time as a young attorney and mother in Arkansas through her tenure as first lady in the White House. As New York States senator, Upstate citizens came to appreciate her attention and services to a part of the state usually given low priority by their representatives; conversely, the people of New York City came to love her for how she fought for medical care for the firefighters and emergency responders at the 9-11 attacks. She was overwhelmingly elected to her second term to the Senate, where she sat on the Armed Services Committee and on the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe. In the Senate, she was known as a hard worker and won wide respect from her peers, including many Republicans. As Secretary of State she gained an invaluable knowledge of the world.
Of the candidates, Hillary Clinton is best prepared to be president.

(28,272 posts)There are a butt-load of conservatives in Georgetown and Round Rock. Add this to the Bryan-College Station paper's Hillary endorsement, and you know something really historic is going on.
