Related: About this forumHow long to receive a mail ballot? (Harris County)
I requested a ballot by mail almost 2 wks ago (I am temporarily outside the county thru November).
Any idea when I should receive a ballot?
Is there anywhere online I can check status?
Thanks!

This is in response to an e-mail that I sent to one of my contacts
The turnaround depends upon the volume. When the applications are received in the mail room, they get scanned in and cued to the printers to print out the specific ballot that is for each applicant. Once the ballot is printed and folded, the envelopes need to be printed and matched with the ballots. Then they are stuffed. It can take a few days or a week.
The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is Oct 24, this give the printing Dept to get it out to the voter with enough time to return it. Mail no longer takes just one day the time it is sent to be received within Harris County like it used to. That is why they want a postcard deadline in order for the returns to actually get received.
I hope this helps.
