Dallas police officer arrested after allegedly choking girlfriend at Omni Hotel
A Dallas police senior corporal was arrested on a domestic violence charge early Sunday after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend at the Omni Hotel downtown.
Jose Gamez, 30, was arrested about 2:45 a.m. at the hotel in the 500 block of South Lamar Street on a felony family violence charge of assault by impeding breathing.
Gamez and his girlfriend got into an argument in their hotel room, and he shook her while telling her to go to sleep, according to an affidavit. He threw her on the bed, and when she got up, he allegedly grabbed her around the neck and choked her. The girlfriend told police Gamez then threw her on the bed again.
A Dallas officer responding to the disturbance heard yelling from inside the couple's room, according to the affidavit. Gamez was arrested after he answered the door, and he was taken to police headquarters to be interviewed.
