Longview couple threatens to bomb hospital

A Longview couple are being held in the Gregg County Jail on $5,000 bond each after police said they threatened to blow up Good Shepherd Medical Center and “go ISIS in here” after one of their work contracts were canceled.

Gary Lawrence Anger, 63, and Janet Elaine Chernoff, 67, are charged with terroristic threat impairing public service, placing public in fear of serious bodily injury or influencing government conduct or activities.

Police say Anger and Chernoff were eating in the Good Shepherd Medical Center lunchroom with another woman, who told police the couple were upset because the hospital had canceled a work contract with Anger.

The woman told police Chernoff said, “If I knew how to build a bomb, I would blow it up back there,” and Anger responded “Yes, and I would go ISIS in there.”
