David Sweet, Rockwall County judge, charged with DWI

Rockwall County Judge David Sweet was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated early Friday morning.
At 12:20 a.m., a Rockwall police officer saw a traffic violation in the 2900 block of Ridge Road and initiated a traffic stop. After field sobriety tests, police say, Sweet was arrested on the misdemeanor charge and booked into the county detention center.
According to the sheriff’s office, Rockwall police logged Sweet into the county jail at 1:22 a.m. He was released on $1,000 bond four hours later.
“My heart goes out for a bad mistake,” County Commissioner Lee Gilbert said.
