Collin County crackpot injures self with own bomb

Presented for your approval, one Anson Chi, anti-government, anti-tax activist and organizer for Ron Paul.

The FBI suspect and 33-year-old political activist has been a fugitive since 2009 in California, where authorities say he violated his probation on a concealed-weapon conviction.

He was arrested in Collin County in April, charged with failing to identify himself to authorities.

Early Monday, a week before he was scheduled to appear in court in that case, an explosion in the 3600 block of West Parker Road damaged an above-ground gas line, shot shrapnel into the air and put Chi in the hospital with critical injuries.

Story here

As if you couldn't guess. . .

By 2012, Chi was living with his parents in a house on Anchor Drive, which they have owned for more than two decades. Neighbors there described him as a “glum,” “weird” and “spooky” recluse.

... "It's not just the IRS," said Anson Chi in a 2007 online radio interview. "It's also the government and the federal reserve. It's everything tied together, and they're all working as one. And so, you can't just attack one part of the dragon, you've got to attack the whole dragon and slay the head off."

PLANO - The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Plano and Garland bomb teams spent Monday night and early Tuesday morning searching a home in the 3200 block of Anchor Drive in Plano.

At one point overnight, they removed an explosive device from the home and detonated it in Kaufman County.

Neighbors said three people left the home late Monday as investigators arrived and issued a search warrant. Police confirmed that the home is that of a man they suspect may have set off an explosive device near a natural gas line Monday over a mile away ...

... "If you were in the Army and threw a grenade, that's what it sounded like," said Scott Percourt, who lives across the street.

When police arrived, they found neighbors tending to a severely injured man, who claimed he was hit by a car.

One neighbor who did not wish to be identified told News 8 she heard the explosion, went outside, and discovered the man stumbling, bleeding profusely, and screaming for help.

"I could tell he was bleeding, so I told him to turn over and lay down," the woman said. "I just tried to talk with him a little bit and calm him down" ...
