Three Texas universities under investigation for handling of sexual assault cases
AUSTIN Texas A&M is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for possibly unfairly suspending a male student after a sexual assault investigation, according to a report in the Texas Tribune.
The report noted the the U.S. Department of Education is investigating three Texas universities for how they handle sexual assault cases Texas A&M University, Trinity University and the University of Houston.
While details are scarce about the investigations into Trinity University and the University of Houston, documents obtained by the Tribune show the investigation into Texas A&M is over whether the university went too far when it suspended a male student after he allegedly sexually assaulted a female graduate student.
We certainly believe we do the right thing and try to do the right thing, Texas A&M President Michael K. Young told the Tribune. If they find things that we can improve, we will try to do that.
