Jurors acquit former Texas official at CPRIT of deception
AUSTIN — A Travis County jury acquitted former Texas cancer agency executive Jerald “Jerry” Cobbs Tuesday of a charge he secured execution of an $11 million state grant through deception.
After deliberating about five hours, the seven-woman, five-man jury found Cobbs not guilty of the first-degree felony charge.
State District Court Judge Clifford Brown thanked the jurors and told Cobbs, “Good luck to you.”
Cobbs then hugged defense lawyer Rusty Hardin of Houston.
