Two state troopers shot in Odessa
ODESSA - The fugitive killed in a gunfight with two state troopers on Tuesday was 24-year-old Roger Dean Shull Jr., officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
Local DPS spokeswoman Trooper Elena Viramontes also identified the two troopers wounded in the shooting as sergeants Chad Matlock and Michael Thomas.
Both were listed in fair condition at Medical Center Hospital on Wednesday, and the DPS reported both were expected to make full recoveries.
The shooting happened about 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Phillips 66 gas station at 42nd Street and Andrews Highway, as the highway patrolmen were assisting Texas Rangers and the Ward County Sheriff’s office in tracking the suspect, believed to be armed, according to the DPS.
