Guns used in Dallas police ambush were confiscated, returned in 2013

PARIS, TX — Lamar County authorities say the weapons found on James Boulware, the man killed by Dallas police following a weekend attack on police headquarters, match guns and ammo confiscated then returned to Boulware two years ago:

A long range hunting rifle with scope. A 12 gauge shotgun. A Ruger rifle. A 45-revolver. A 9-millimeter, semi-automatic pistol. A camouflage flak jacket and body armor and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

That's just some of the arsenal of weapons confiscated by Lamar County Sheriff's deputies in May of 2013 after arresting James Boulware on assault charges out of Dallas.

He was accused of choking his mother and uncle before fleeing to his brother's home in Paris, Texas.

1. Probably had some NRA attorney help assert his rights to keep guns, despite being a violent yahoo.

When Jeannine Hammond made a comment to Boulware about “going to hell,” he grabbed her throat with both hands and began squeezing, according to police documents.

James Boulware’s uncle, who was also at Hammond’s home in Far North Dallas, told police he had to stop his nephew from choking her.

Boulware began fighting with his uncle and struck him several times on the head before his uncle subdued him with a chokehold, according to an affidavit.

No, the government doesn't get to seize legal personal property without some provable crime....just exactly as it should be...

Read under this section: "Boulware Caused Lockdowns After Threatening Shootings at Schools & Churches"

Boulware left his mother’s house and went to his brother’s home in Paris, Texas, where he removed several guns, rifles, body armor and several boxes of ammunition and left. His family told police Boulware had recently made comments about “shooting up schools and churches.”

Boulware was later caught in Paris and arrested.

The case was dismissed in April 2014 after Boulware met court-ordered conditions, according to Dallas County court records.

He should not have been permitted to have weapons based upon his past actions or psychotic episodes. The criminal justice system screwed up.

Involuntarily committed...you're right that the judicial system screwed up...it wasn't the return of the guns that demonstrates it, it was failure to get a conviction or commitment...

No conviction no seizure. Why do you wish for government seizure of personal property without cause?
