McALLEN Federal agents on Monday arrested two men accused of selling 15 live grenades to undercover informants near an elementary school and a Boys & Girls Club near downtown McAllen, according to court records unsealed Tuesday.
Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives accused Alberto Joseph Ortiz, 26, of selling a live grenade to the informant last month at a house on the 800 block of South 26 1/2 Street in McAllen, a criminal complaint states.
On May 21, informant met with Javier Solis and asked about buying grenades, according to the complaint. A few minutes later, Ortiz arrived at the house with the grenade. The informant took a photo of it and said he would return later to purchase it.
