Qatar official, wife accused of force labor in San Antonio

A San Antonio couple is accused of holding two housemaids without pay, forcing them to live in an empty apartment with just a pillow and a blanket, and transporting them every day to work at their home in the Dominion where they were often forbidden to use the toilet.

At a hearing Monday, Magistrate Judge John Primomo set bond at $100,000 each for Hassan Al Homoud, a Qatar military official training at Camp Bullis, and his wife, Zainab Al Hosani. They face a charge of forced labor.

Special agents of the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested the couple Saturday in San Antonio, a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Texas states.

The women‘s conditions were discovered after a San Antonio Police officer found one of the housemaids, who appeared to be in distress, April 9 in the 6400 block of Camp Bullis, according to a criminal complaint affidavit.
