21CT drops lawsuit against fired lobbyist James Frinzi (HHSC contracting scandal)
The company at the center of a state contracting scandal, Austin data analytics firm 21CT, has dismissed its $90 million defamation lawsuit against James Frinzi, the firms former lobbyist turned newspaper whistle-blower.
In a filing with the Travis County District Court Thursday, 21CT lawyers dismissed with prejudice and concluded a public spat with Frinzi over statements he made to the American-Statesman about how a state official in charge of a lucrative state contract also seemed poised to become an executive at 21CT.
The filing does not include details of any payment as part of a settlement but says both parties shall pay their own attorneys fees.
Frinzi, citing an affidavit he signed as part of the settlement, declined comment on the specifics of the case, but said the two parties mutually agreed to end the ordeal.
