Williamson County judge facing gun charges cleared for release

Tim Wright, 70, a county court-at-law judge, was indicted Tuesday on nine federal charges.

U.S. District Court Judge Mark Lane cleared Tim Wright for release from federal custody on Wednesday on several conditions, including that he surrender his concealed handgun license.

Wright, a county court-at-law judge in Williamson County who was indicted Tuesday in a federal firearms case, is also banned from being around weapons of any kind, or selling guns through a third party.

He is accused of selling firearms to a felon and helping to illegally export weapons to Mexico.

Lane released Wright on an appearance bond. He was not required to pay any money to the court to leave custody, but he will be jailed if he violates the terms of his release.
