AUSTIN The public watchdog group that filed a criminal complaint against Attorney General Ken Paxton over a violation of state security laws said Tuesday that it will formally refile its charge in Collin County.
Texans for Public Justice director Craig McDonald said that the need to do so shows the weaknesses in a Republican plan, now pending before the Senate, to remove public corruption investigations from Travis County. Under the measure, such investigations would be conducted by officials in the home county of the politician being investigated.
McDonald said the Paxton case has been delayed because it was referred back to his hometown, where he has close ties to the district attorney. Travis County officials determined they did not have jurisdiction.
Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis acknowledges that hes done nothing with the felony securities fraud allegations that his office received against his friend and business partner, McDonald said.

Paxton is even dumber that Abbott. I practiced law at Abbott at a downtown law firm and Abbott is a genius compared to Paxton. The AG's office had so many typos and mistakes in their first brief in the appeal of the Texas voter id law that it had to refile that brief. Paxton could not meet the normal briefing deadlines in the voter id law appeal and so had to get an extension for their reply brief which is due today (some fun reading for me)
