Explosion at cement plant in San Antonio burns 3

SAN ANTONIO - Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon following an explosion at a Northeast Side cement plant.

San Antonio Fire Department Spokeswoman Deborah Foster said the blast happened just after 2 p.m. in a coal mill at Capitol Aggregates at 11551 Nacogdoches Road.

Fire crews were initially called to the scene but by the time they arrived the company's carbon dioxide suppressant system had already put out the fire.

Three employees suffered burns to their face and preliminary details indicated at least one was transported to an area hospital.
