Developer drops plans for indoor ski resort in Grand Prairie
A developer has dropped plans to spend $215 million building the nations first indoor ski resort and a Hard Rock Hotel in Grand Prairie.
Sherman Thurston, president of The Grand Alps Group, met with Grand Prairies mayor and city manager Friday to discuss the ambitious project planned near Interstate 30 and Belt Line Road. City Manager Tom Hart said city officials were notified later via email that developers must regretfully withdraw our project from further consideration in Grand Prairie.
We were a little surprised, Hart said. We thought we had a pretty good meeting. For whatever reasons, they decided thats not what they wanted to pursue any more.
Thurston sent a press release saying terms and conditions regarding costs with several sites in Grand Prairie could not be reached, and wished Grand Prairie good luck with its entertainment district.
