Fraudster found guilty of bilking investors with Dallas-area Disney park fairy tale

SHERMAN -- Jurors found a Plano man guilty Friday of bilking investors with unfounded rumors of a Disney park to be built in North Texas.

Thomas W. Lucas Jr. was convicted on all counts Friday after the jury deliberated for about an hour.

"We're pleased," prosecutor Chris Eason said after the verdict. "His lies ended today."

Lucas, 35, faces up to 20 years in prison. A sentencing date will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

At the prosecution’s request, U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant had Lucas taken into custody without bond immediately after the verdict.
