FORT WORTH, Texas, March 20 (UPI) -- Police in Forth Worth, Texas, said they were searching for a suspect who tossed two firebombs outside the door of a state senator's office Tuesday.

Two members of state Sen. Wendy Davis' staff were in the office when the attack occurred about 4 p.m., WFAA-TV, Dallas/Fort Worth, reported. One of the employees jumped over flames to get to a fire extinguisher in another room, the TV station said.

No injuries were reported. Davis was away her Senate office at her law office at the time of the attack

It's usually "pro-lifers" who believe they should kill defenders of women's rights.

Molotov Cocktails Thrown At Texas Democrat's Office

A pair of Molotov cocktails were thrown at the office of Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) on Tuesday afternoon in Fort Worth.

Two staffers were in the office at the time, but Davis was not, according to KDFW, the Fox affiliated television station in Dallas. No one was hurt.

Davis said at a news conference on Tuesday night that state troopers put her in lockdown for four hours after the incident to make sure she was not in danger, according to CBSDFW.com.

Office of Democratic Senator Wendy Davis Firebombed

At around 4 PM this afternoon, just before the close of the workday, the Fort Worth office of Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis was targeted with two molotov cocktails by a sole male assailant. The Sentator was not in the office at the time. Two staff members were inside when they heard the crash against the main doorway which caught on fire. They extinguished it on site but the damage is clearly evident in pictures taken by Anthony Spangler.

Statement from Senator Davis on Firebombing

"First, I'm thankful no one was hurt today and I'm grateful for the quick thinking of one of my team members who minimized the damage and ensured that no one was harmed in this violent senseless attack. As these violent incidents happen across the country, it should remind us of the importance of the democratic process and remind us to keep a sense of civility even as we disagree - acts of violence are never a solution and have no place in our society. While we don't know the motive today, we are in touch with police and fire investigators and this remains an ongoing investigation that includes Fort Worth Police/Fort Worth Fire/and Texas Department of Public Safety. Let me say this, Texas faces enormous challenges. We can and should work together to resolve these issues through civil, non-violent discourse. I will continue to stand up for the things we all believe in and hold important, such as adequate public education funding, job creation, and the protection of women's healthcare."

Arrest made in fiery attack on Davis' Senate office

FORT WORTH — One man was arrested late Tuesday in connection with an attack on the Fort Worth office of State Sen. Wendy Davis, authorities said.

The man was picked up about 11 p.m., said Capt. Tom Crow, a spokesman for the Fort Worth Fire Department.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was detained just hours after someone left what Davis described as a "homemade incendiary device" outside the door of her third-floor offices in the So7 development.

Good! Glad they got the little fire bomber!

Cedric Steele was arrested late Tuesday in a convenience store parking lot in the 6000 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard, Halstead said.

At the time of his arrest, Steele was wanted on warrants out of Tulsa, Oklahoma for aggravated assault and battery and interruption, disruption or interference with an emergency call, court officials there confirm.

Court records show the warrants were issued in December 2005, one month after Steele had been sentenced to one-year probation on a conviction of breaking and entering.

Tulsa County records show Steele was also sentenced to one-year probation for a December 2002 conviction of assault and battery.

Let me guess, this guy was listening to Faux News and possibly Rush Limbaugh's hate radio program. He already has a problem with women and he snapped. Total nuts!

Homeless man set fire at state senator's office

(snip)Fort Worth Police Chief Jeffrey Halstead said Wednesday that Steele had been known to frequent the area and visited the senator's office on Friday and Monday.

Steele asked to speak with Davis, who wasn't there. Staffers said Steele responded by saying they would soon, "read about him in the news."

A senator since 2009, Davis was not in the office during the attack.

She said fierce verbal tirades against elected officials can sometimes help incite real violence.

Homeless Man Who Talked Of Aliens Arrested In Firebombing Of Texas Democrat’s Office

“He told staffers that they would be ‘hearing about him in the news,’” Crow said. “And it turns out he was right. He was in the news.”

Generally, Steele appeared to be suffering from mental health issues and was “not making sense” when he spoke, Crow said.

After his arrest, according to the affidavit, Steele made more comments about an alien species and told them he was keeping “another piece of the alien” in the rafters of a vacant building where he had been staying. Police asked the owner of the building if they could search the location and that’s where they found materials for the explosives.

They're never the ones to think about civil discourse first. If they can't have their way, then nobody gets anything. They would rather destroy something than to reasonably share it.

16. Why aren't these stories reported as terrorism?
Thu Mar 22, 2012, 01:15 AM
Mar 2012

Dictionary.com's definition of terrorism: the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.

Granted, it looks like it was probably some unbalanced person. However, what sane person would strap a bomb to themselves and then detonate it (or light a bottle filled with a flammable liquid before tossing it)? When are we going to start calling these acts what they are, terrorism.

The point of their actions is to strike terror into people's lives, to cause disruption, to intimidate when their beliefs are put into question. They have no defensible argument, so they destroy, distract and push their agenda through bully tactics.

It's time to work towards actual debate and discussion, which is sorely lacking in this country. The right has worked since before Reagan to destroy the ability to have civil discourse. Consider the people running for the Republican slot; Newt, Willard and Frothy. A Race-Baiter, a robot and a Talibanelist. All we're going to get from them is talking points, period.

Funny how during the last administration any discussion was met with calls of being un-American, Communist, Socialist, etc. The foundation of this country was debate, discussion and compromise. When did we get to the point where people get violent if they don't see things going their way?

I listen to Randi Rhodes during the weekdays and a caller talked about Marshall McLuhan's statement that "the medium is the message". How can we have civil discourse with Rush on 600+ radio stations, doubling up in various markets, to where people begin to believe what Rush says is what everyone thinks. When the reality is closer to the majority thinks the exact opposite, they just don't get the chance to hear anything else (thank goodness for internet radio).

We've had a congresswoman shot in Arizona, a Texas Senator's office firebombed, an Arkansas Democratic congressman's pet cat killed with the word "liberal" scrawled on its body and left for his child to find and I am sure I can find more stories. We are teetering on a dangerous cliff which, in my opinion, could make pre-war Germany look like a musical.

We've allowed the bullies to intimidate us from rising up and getting rid of all these idiots we have in our state legislation. It's time to put them in their place, the dust-bin of history where they belong. It's time to demand we live in the 21st century, not the 5th century during the Dark Ages. This includes proper accessible health care for all including mental and dental health (When did teeth start costing so much?).

Texas, we have to take this state back before we go the way of Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. Let's show these gerrymandering, black-box stuffing, back-room-dealing, one-percent-supporting, pro-death, anti-choice Republicans we can win despite any road-blocks they put up against the average Texan. There are much more of us then there are of them. Oh, and we can do it without using any violent tactics, just our words and our deeds.

Take some time today to watch Rachel Maddow's interview w/Senator Davis. Spoiler Alert: It ends with a clearly impressed Maddow saying - "You look at somebody like State Senator Wendy Davis in Texas and you think, maybe Texas Democrats are not an endangered species"
