Woodville, Texas -- Woodville dad Kendall Coleman plans to either homeschool his 7-year-old son or start a charter school after a teacher allegedly told the first grader that he is going to hell for telling a lie.
"It didn't sit well with me as a parent or with me as a Christian," Coleman said on Friday. "I believe in the totality of the gospel and that a lie is a sin, but Jesus died for our sins."
Coleman, a Woodville ISD graduate who has volunteered with his son's class at Wheat Elementary, operates a Christian-based non-profit organization in the Woodville area.
He said his son, Isaiah, was upset by the teacher's comments, which were made last month.

Also disturbing was one of the comments after the article, "She should have told the little dude that because of his color, he has an excellent chance of going to prison. Black folks seem not to understand."

(9,128 posts)That is a cruel thing to say to a small child, yet you can't help but wonder about the ethics and mores of Religious Right politicos and activists who sooner lie than say grace if they do much as open their mouths.
