Overnight shooting at IHOP in Abilene, one person injured
At 3:44 am, Abilene 911 received a call of a shooting at IHOP on South Clack. Upon arrival, first responders located a 25 year old Hispanic male inside the restaurant suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center and treated for his injuries. He is currently in stable condition.
As of the time of this release, detectives and forensic personnel are on scene gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. The initial investigation has revealed an altercation took place inside the restaurant between the suspect and victim. The suspect exited the restaurant and went to the parking lot. Several minutes later as the victim was about to exit through the front door, the suspect opened fire, shooting through the glass, striking the victim multiple times. The victim retreated inside the restaurant and the suspect continued to fire through walls and windows. The business was hit in multiple locations with bullets traveling into the common dining area. There were approximately fifty people inside eating at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, no one else was injured.
