Castro, Patrick Will Debate Immigration In April On Univision
After weeks of bickering online, state Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Houston) and SA Mayor Julián Castro have agreed upon a day and time for their debate showdown on immigration.
When Castro likened Patrick to anti-immigrant California politician Pete Wilson, he set off a string of back-and-forth saucy Tweets (and one YouTube video at the Alamo) about their immigration policy views that culminated in the decision to meet face-to-face and talk border security in San Antonio.
The public rumble is expected to take place on April 15, reported Texas Weekly.
The debate between Castro and conservative Republican run-off candidate for lieutenant governor Patrick, will be held at the Univision studio from 6-7 p.m.; while it will only be open to the media (and not the public) it will be broadcasted by the station, Castros office tells the Current. Evan Smith, editor-in-chief of online news outlet, the Texas Tribune, is expected to moderate the hour-long debate.
