The Lubbock Lunacy Continues

Now that Dr. Donald R. May (aka Mr. Conservate & Mr. ODS) lost in the Republican primary he is back on a tear. His most recent column reveals his disdain yet again for anything doing with the Obamas.

“Don’t Let Them Eat Cake”

First Lady Michele Obama has banned cake ingredients from the White House and most other ingredients necessary to make cookies, pies, and crème brûlée.

Mrs. Obama’s rage against tasty nutritious food has taken her from destroying appetizing menus in schools to banning great deserts at the White House. Her latest effort to ban good food has now resulted in the resignation of the White House pastry chef.

The Washington Times reported,

Michelle Obama may have pushed the White House pastry chef a bit too far with her constant requests to replace fatty foods like cream and butter with lower-calorie options: He’s quit, calling the decision “bittersweet,” various media reported.

The New York Times reported,

Mr. Yosses has hardly turned his back on his old, sweet life. “I don’t want to demonize cream, butter, sugar and eggs,” he said.

Especially for White House company. “For special, nostalgic occasions, we still make 20 percent traditional desserts,” he said. “Coconut cake with seven-minute frosting, lemon steamed pudding with layers of custard, mousse and cake, sticky toffee pudding, and every kind of chocolate dessert possible.”

On holidays, Mr. Yosses earns his nickname, The Crustmaster, bestowed on him by a grateful President Obama. “For Thanksgiving, it is five or six different pies,” Mr. Yosses said.

And when you are baking for the president of France, as Mr. Yosses was at the White House last month, there are no worries about fat and sugar. The thought of that dinner, however, was both thrilling and frightening, Mr. Yosses said, because the French are the masters of the pastry arts.

From the time of Martha Washington’s legendary pound cake, Presidential meals have included the highest quality deserts. A chocolate chip cookie and a brownie can go a long way in adding pleasant memories to White House diplomacy.

Sounds delicious, but like many others I have had a few too many and do need to cut back.

Oh and congratulations to Mr. Yosses and his husband who will be living together in the same city
