'Extensive cracking' in concourse closes $60M Allen Eagle Stadium
Allen ISD officials say they are closing the 2-year-old Allen Eagle Stadium after "extensive cracking" was found in the $60 million stadium's concourse.
Ben Pogue of Pogue Construction, which built the facility, says the cracks range from a quarter-inch to three-quarters of an inch wide in sections of the concourse.
Says a release from the district, sent before a news conference this afternoon, a "full evaluation" will take until at least June. It's expected to affect graduation ceremonies scheduled for June 6, and could impact football games in the fall.
The district said daily class activities are being relocated from the facility immediately, and "the stadium will not be available for public use during the closure."
