Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons died Saturday night at 82

Billionaire Harold Simmons died Saturday night at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, says wife Annette. He was 82.

Annette Simmons tells our Alan Peppard that the East Texas native, who currently sits at No. 40 on Forbes’ list of the 400 wealthiest Americans, has been “very sick for the last two weeks,” and in Baylor’s intensive care unit for the last eight days. She did not reveal the specific cause of death.

-snip-

Simmons also funneled tens of millions to Republican campaigns in 2012 with the hopes of unseating President Obama, who he famously called “the most dangerous man in America.” Indeed, he was the GOP’s top contributor in the last election cycle.

But, as reported earlier this year, Simmons also contributed to the likes of Planned Parenthood, and his “recent philanthropic giving has been anything but right-leaning.”

people to change the maps to prove that his nuclear waste dump was not over the aquifer which provides my drinking water, even though for 80 years, it did. And they have NO liability if anything goes wrong: from their own website:

"The State of Texas takes immediate title to LRLW disposed in the CWF and the DOE, upon closure of the FWF, does the same for waste disposed at the FWF. As a result there is no possible future liability for a generator that disposes of waste at WCS."

So the taxpayers of Texas and of the United States are on the hook. He bought that hick town of Andrews 30 miles north of here with a few forklift jobs. They started with, well it's just low level stuff and only for Texas. Later, they said, well, we'll add Vermont, and we'll also start taking reactor rods and such, and then, they finally said, what they hey, we'll take 34 states and anything they have.

So even though as an atheist, I do not have any faith in any afterlife, it pleases me to think of him in hell.

D Magazine (a Dallas local publication) called him "Dallas' Most Evil Genius":

Rachel Maddow did a piece on him sometime in the past 18 months too, he was quite the RW operator.
