At a party meeting this Saturday, our SDEC representative showed us a draft of the rules for the state district/county conventions. Basically everyone will have to sign a loyalty oath and agree to support the candidates of the Party including President Obama. This last addition was designed to deal with the Larouchie supporter who is running for the Democratic nomination for CD22nd. This idiot ran in 2010 on the platform of impeaching President Obama.
These rules are being voted on tonight by the rules committee and will be voted on by the party on Thursday.

(112,417 posts)There are very few ties with Democratic party philosophy, so I don't have any issues with the delegate selection process including a loyalty oath. The choice this election is to whether to sustain the course that the President has embarked on or devolve into a theocracy lead by either the Church of Latter Day Saints or the Pope. Neither of those ideas are appealing to me.

(145,554 posts)I have learned a great deal about the LaRouchies. Keisha Rogers got a favorable draw on ballot position in Fort Bend county and the county party did not have a strong candidate in the race. After she got the nomination, we found out that she was running on the platform of impeaching President Obama.
We are working to make sure that this does not happen again. The good thing is that the CD 22 may be a winnable race if the tea party candidate defeats Pete Olson. The primary will be the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend and should be a low turnout affair.

The Texas Democratic Party is voting on new rules tonight. After the rules are passed, I should get a copy of the rules from my county's SDEC's representative

(145,554 posts)The TDP adopted new rules for the delegate selection process. Here is an earlier version of these proposed rules http://www.txdemocrats.org/2012/TX_Delegate_Selection_Plan_%28Revised%29.pdf There were evidently some minor changes to these rules. Here is a summary of the Texas Democratic Party delegate selection process http://www.txdemocrats.org/2012/Summary_of_Proposed_Convention_Process.pdf
