Related: About this forumHas anyone done an online course for ticket dismissal in Texas?
This is my first ticket ever (grumble, grumble) and I see that a lot of places now offer online courses on that newfangled internet thingy. I think I could deal with that a lot better than six hours of a lame comedian, but it seems too good to be true. Has anyone done it? Had any problems?

(24,780 posts)HEB Supermarket a couple or three years ago after a ticket in Live Oak County. I believe it was 25 bucks or so.
If your looking to cut the time involved, you can't. The law says a minimum number of hours so the online course will not start a new section until the appropriate time. I believe it was 6 hours all together.

(42,578 posts)I'm looking to avoid the agony of six hours of listening to someone who is marketing themselves as a comedian and is not. at. all. funny.

(24,780 posts)It's straightforward, and you can sit at home in your underwear and do it without that BS.

(112,281 posts)As a former resident of the county, I'm thrilled to know that Sheriff Busby and Judge Huff still have the speed traps in operation.
The one that catches the most speeders is where travelers go north on US 281 into Three Rivers--right after you cross over the levee on the south side of town the speed limit drops from 70 mph to 30 mph in about 100 feet. Either a DPS of a city cop will be there to greet you.

(136 posts)You want to allow plenty of time after you complete the on-line course to receive the needed documentation. It took about 3 weeks to get the stuff in the mail (I didn't pay the extra amount for accelerated delivery). Also, be careful because the documents you receive are from the state and it looks a lot like junk mail. I almost threw it away!
It would be pretty bad to take the course, but get what you need after your deadline has passed. I asked the clerk if I brought in the class paperwork showing I did take the class, but got it late, she said I had 90 days, period. So, I wouldn't procrastinate this.
Good Luck and there are plenty of outfits out there offering this class.
