Gov. Tom Wolf celebrates anniversary of Pa.'s medical marijuana law

Gov. Tom Wolf celebrated the one-year anniversary of Pennsylvania's medical marijuana law Monday with a press conference surrounded by advocates and lawmakers.

"We have a good program," the governor said. "We've learned from the failures, the trials, the challenges of other states and done everything in our power to learn from those other states."

The state is currently in the process of rolling out the provisions.

So far, the state Department of Health has approved 226 applications through the "safe harbor" program, paving the way for caretakers of those under the age of 18 to obtain medicine from other states.

The department is currently parsing through applications from grower/processors and dispensaries that will form the backbone of the industry. It has also released draft temporarily regulations for doctors.
