Corbett really said that the VoterID law will increase the number of voters

Last edited Thu Mar 15, 2012, 08:38 PM - Edit history (1)

I swear I'm not making that up.

http://blogs.mcall.com/capitol_ideas/2012/03/corbett-signs-voterid-bill-predicts-it-will-increase-turnout.html

Any moment, I expect Corbett to say that Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia

Excerpts:

"Starting with a dry run during the April 24 primary, state residents will have to show photo identification every time they cast their ballots, a change that the Republican governor predicted will increase voter participation even as it cuts down on fraud at the polls.

Opponents of the proposal, which include Democrats, unions, the AARP and NAACP, don’t share Corbett’s rosy outlook. They’re predicting nightmarishly long lines at the polls. And they say claims of voter fraud are unsubstantiated and are little more than a pretext to discourage voters – particularly the poor, the elderly and minorities who generally vote Democrat – from turning up at the polls in a presidential election year.

“We’re about to turn back the pages of history with what is a poll tax on the most vulnerable members of our community,” Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, said, referring to Democrats’ longstanding objections that the bill would place expensive burdens on the poor and the elderly to obtain proper identification.

Others opposed to the bill, including state Senate Democrats and the state branch of the American Civil Liberties Union said they were contemplating legal action."

Here is the quote:

"I believe what you will see is increased participation, because that's what we've seen many other times when voter ID laws were imposed," he said. "I think you measure it by hopefully increased voter participation, and when people understand that they have to show their photo ID, they come back with their photo ID or they send it in after they did a provisional ballot."

I want someone to ask the liar for data to back up such a ludicrous claim.

for some of the most outrageous things that they say when results prove just the opposite of what they are saying? But it doesn't matter what they say, there is never punishment.

I would like to have any evidence of how he came to this conclusion.....even a shred.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/attytood/Bull-Corbett-is-unpopular----imagine-that.html

excerpt:

"When he's not busy suppressing the votes of senior citizens and black and Latino people, invading the privacy of Pennsylvanians' lady parts, or mading impossible for working-class kids to attend college, Gov. Tom "Bull" Corbett is busy watching his poll numbers plummet:

The voters disapprove of the way Corbett is handling the state's finances by a margin of 49-36 percent. That margin sinks to a disapproval rating of 53-27 percent when voters are asked about the impact of state budget cuts on universities. Voters oppose those cuts by a margin of 68-28 percent. Corbett's job approval rating is now split at 41-41 percent, a six-point drop from December.

Who would have guessed that alienating the 80 percent of the state who aren't middle-aged white males (also known as "Rush Limbaugh listeners&quot would be bad politics. At this rate Corbett could be the first governor around these parts to not get re-elected in a half century. "

He really has managed to fly under the radar on many issues so far. But now he also getting negative media coverage on a national level.

People are also going to start noticing
- their property taxes going up
- their kids' class sizes at school increasing
- their kids' college tuition bills going up at the same time Pell Grants are cut
- the roads and bridges and infrastructure in general continuing to crumble
- cuts to mass transit at the same time fares are increasing
- cuts to every social services program for every vulnerable population in the state
- continued environmental pollution by the natural gas drillers

Let's spread the word to as many people as possible. Few people pay attention to state government, particularly because it gets almost no attention in most newspapers and TV news, and because there are no viral videos about it.

They portray Corbett as a genius who will save the state from "tax and spend liberals." But many of my neighbors who voted for him are getting frustrated with his coddling of the natural gas drillers and by what is happening with their kids' K-12 schools and with college tuition. Believe me, I won't miss an opportunity to point out how Corbett is destroying the state.

I can't wait to volunteer to work for whoever his Democratic challenger is. Any more word on Joe Sestak?
