(11,417 posts)1. If you work 35 years for our county you receive
your full salary as pension when you retire. For firemen it is 20 years I think. By then their bodies are a wreck.
Public service still has it's benefits. I will get more in retirement then I paid in if I live long enough.
If you don't want our services put out your own fires and don't put the indigent in our mental hospitals.
We happen to still have defined benefit plans because we still have unions.
Instead of the OP why not promote union organization and bring back pensions for everyone.
