Freedom Industries moving some crude MCHM to PA.

Just what we need. Does this mean that the PA DEP isn't as tough as the WV DEP? I was unaware that the parent company of Freedom Industries is a Pennsylvania company. I guess we can only hope that they have learned a valuable lesson from the screw up in WV and will be extremely vigilant from now on.

I had trouble finding much information on this. Most sources only had a couple of paragraphs, but this had a little more detail:

http://www.wowktv.com/story/24667926/freedom-industries-moves-4100-gallons-of-crude-mchm-to-pa-prep-plant

The DEP issued a news release Tuesday, announcing Freedom would be transferring 3,500 gallons of crude MCHM to Pennsylvania. Aluise revised that estimate to 4,100 Friday.

That tanker brought the chemical to the Dutch Run Prep Plant in Armstrong County, Penn., confirmed John Poister, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Dutch Run is operated by Freedom Industries' parent company, Rosebud Mining Company. The coal prep plant is located approximately 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

They are located right along the Allegheny River. Kittanning, Ford City and I think Worthington. appleannie1 Feb 2014 #1

And since the company doesn't have a track record to be proud of, we should all be worried. Well, in all fairness, Freedom Industries has filed for bankruptcy, so it isn't the same company, is it?

Yeah, right.

It seems that you were lucky enough that the parent company was not located in Westmoreland Co., at least this time.
